Our tester Claire was impressed by the neat, easy-to-open packaging and found it to be one of the quickest and most simple pieces of baby equipment to put together. She took it for a spin on some tough terrain and was thrilled with its performance.
Seats
The majority of triple buggies begin as single pushchairs. However, some can be converted to accommodate a second seat with adapters. You'll also find that some models let you add a ride-on board for older children who would like to walk but still need a little help.
For a light-weight alternative that's ideal for city streets, check out the Joie Evalite Duo. It's easy to maneuver and comes with a large basket that has plenty of storage space. It can accommodate twins from at birth and accepts two car seats or a carrycot with a seat. The seats must be facing towards the front and there is no space for an item under the seat. You will require an extra sidepack.
Mountain Buggy Duet will be an ideal choice if you enjoy off-road driving. It's a side-by-side with the smallest footprint of any double buggy on the market. This allows it to pass through doors with narrow openings and on public transport, and enables you to climb up and down kerbs without too much trouble. The adjustable handlebar has a handbrake for added safety and security.
Another option that is light weight is the UPPAbaby Vista 2 Double it can be used to accommodate twins or a toddler and a baby. 3 wheel stroller lightweight -position reclining and UPF 50+ sunshades, and the canopy can be adjusted to keep the sun out of your child's eyes. The Vista 2 can be converted into a triple by adding UPPAbaby’s "PiggyBack" board, which is designed for older children.
The iCandy Orange is one of the most sought-after double buggies that are available due to its outstanding comfort. It's a true all-terrain vehicle, with a soft suspension that makes light work of bumpy surfaces. It comes with 30 different seating options and a built-in board for older children who prefer walking, and a "cinema' mode which raises the back seats for better visibility.
The phil&teds dot is a brilliant single buggy from the beginning that is able to easily be adapted to take 2 (or 3!) in multiple configurations. This is especially useful if you have an infant in a car seat as the frame can be equipped with a wedgie to allow for optimal lying flat, or car seat adapters for various brands.
Suspension
The suspension of a triple wheeled buggy will determine how easy you and your child/children can push it. It is important to have a smooth ride, as babies can feel every bump that comes along the road. This is especially true if you are driving on rough terrain like grass or unpaved roads. Certain models come with locking front tires to assist in maneuvering and getting over obstacles like curbs.
Some models come with air-filled tyres, which provide a fantastic all-terrain experience, but they can be prone to punctures so ensure you have spares in the trunk. Some models have gel or foam tyres that are specifically designed to handle bumps and are less prone to punctures, but you might find them to be a bit stiff and uncomfortable for your child's back if you choose to jog.

MFM reviewer Kath took the Urban Glide 2 through its tests with her infant and three years old children, and discovered that it performed admirably on tricky terrain: "it navigated effortlessly over bumpy pavements and grass cobbles, dirt tracks and cobbles with ease and was easy to manoeuvre around corners and go up and down kerbs. It's also very comfortable to jog, with the 16" rear wheels and lockable swivel front wheel that provide a steady jogging experience." Folding
A three-wheel double buggy could be folded easily to store it. There are options that fold flat or stand up (as though they were in a pushchair) and also open to reveal a more umbrella-like folding that has an operated break. The more wheels a buggy has, in general the more easy it will be to maneuver over rough terrain. This is especially relevant when the wheels are larger than average. This will provide you with more stability and make it less likely that your child will tip or flip over.

It it can be converted into a side-byside double buggy once your child is old enough for them to sit next to each other. It is a lightweight option that is easy to push. It also comes with a bumper bar and a rain cover.
The phil&teds sports is another option. It is future-proof since it's a fantastic buggy and can be adapted to accommodate two (or three!) in its small footprint. It is a clever 3-wheel design with the sling seat to provide superior manoeuvrability, stability and the ability to pop the kerb.
If you're looking to jog with your children this is the ideal double buggie for jogging because it comes with a lockable swivel front wheel that will help you remain in control when you're tackling off-road or hilly tracks. It's a light compact model that is easy to fold with one hand. It is perfect to take on trips. It's on the expensive side, but it does have some notable features that make it a great price, including its simple one-click fold, and a host of other features including a bumper bar and raincover.
Storage
Many are awed by the storage capacity of a triple-wheeled buggy. Some models, such as the Roma Atlas, have a large basket, as well as two zip pockets on the hood that you can keep your phone and keys. It's also designed to cope with slightly rough terrain making it a great choice for family walks or all-terrain strolls.
Other models such as the UPPAbaby Vista 2 offer plenty of space and flexibility to carry twins or even a baby and a toddler (it uses their 'PiggyBack' board to make this possible). It's the smallest side-by-side double available and it comes with some amazing technology, including games-changing LED lights on each side of the frame to ensure safety in low light conditions.
